KARACHI: Iranian President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and his delegation on Tuesday arrived in Karachi, the port city, on the third day of his Pakistan visit.
Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah, Governor Kamran Tessori, First Lady Aseefa Bhutto and others welcomed him at Jinnah International Airport and extended warm greetings to him.
Stringent security measures were implemented at the airport to ensure safety
President Raisi’s itinerary includes meetings with the governor and chief minister, addressing a business forum, and attending a dinner at the CM House. He also visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
During his stay, President Raisi is scheduled to meet the provincial cabinet and receive an honorary PhD degree from the University of Karachi for his efforts in strengthening bilateral ties.
The Iranian president commenced his official visit on April 22 in Islamabad, marking the first head of state visit post the February 8 general elections.
Heightened security measures, including air surveillance and temporary internet suspension during the president’s movements, were implemented. To minimize public inconvenience, Lahore and Karachi announced local holidays.
Earlier, President Raisi was welcomed in Lahore by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz at Allama Iqbal International Airport.
