Iran’s Envoy Condoles with Pakistan Over Terrorist Attack in Lakki Marwat

ISLAMABAD: Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam, expressed condolences to Pakistan on Monday following the deadly terrorist attack on security forces in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The Iranian Ambassador conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the government and people of Pakistan, as well as to the families who lost loved ones in the attack. He referred to the martyred soldiers as “brave army forces” of the country.

“Islamic Republic of Iran considers Pakistani Martyrs as Iranian Shuhada. Our prayers goes for Shuhada,” Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam wrote in his condolence message on X.

It is pertinent to mention here that seven soldiers of the Pakistan Army including a Captain were martyred after their vehicle hit an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Lakki Marwat district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a device targeted the Security Forces in Lakki Marwat District on June 9, resulting in the martyrdom of Captain Muhammad Faraz Ilyas and six other soldiers.

The martyred soldiers included Captain Muhammad Faraz Ilyas, aged 26 years, from Kasur, Subedar Major Muhammad Nazir, aged 50, resident of Skardu district, Lance Naik Muhammad Anwar, aged 34, resident of Ghanchi district, Lance Naik Hussain Ali, aged, 36, from Ghizer district), Sepoy Asad Ullah aged 33, resident of Multan district, Sepoy Manzoor Hussain, aged 27, hailing from Gilgit district and Sepoy Rashid Mehmood, aged 31 years, resident of Rawalpindi district.

“Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists present in the area and perpetrators of this henious act will be brought to justice,” the ISPR stated.

The statement concluded that the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.
