ISLAMABAD: The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan on Tuesday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of Pakistani Security Forces’ brave soldiers in the Bannu district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam in a post on X, extended his heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the government and people of Pakistan on the martyrdom of eight Pakistani security forces’ soldiers.

“May God Almighty bless the soul of the Martyrs and console families who lost loved ones. My prayer goes for the safe recovery of the injured,” he added.

Ten terrorists were killed, and eight security force personnel were martyred in a failed terrorist attack on a military cantonment in northwestern Pakistan, according to a military statement released on Tuesday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media affairs wing of the Pakistan Army, reported that a group of ten terrorists attacked Bannu Cantonment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the early hours of Monday.

Security forces successfully thwarted the attempt to breach the cantonment, forcing the terrorists to detonate an explosives-laden vehicle at the perimeter wall.

Pakistani troops effectively engaged the terrorists as a result of which all ten terrorists were killed during the ensuing operation, ISPR stated.
