BEIJING: Iran’s strikes in Pakistan by using drones and missiles that killed Pakistani civilians constitutes a clear violation of a sovereign country’s territory and airspace, and a serious breach of the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter,” remarked Cheng Xizhong, a Professor at Southwest University of Political Science and Law on Thursday.

In response to these actions, Pakistan has taken decisive measures by conducting precise military strikes on terrorist hideouts within Iran, utilizing both drones and missiles, as highlighted in an article published by Asia Pacific Daily.

Professor Cheng said that despite the recent cross-border incidents, Iran and Pakistan have shown commitment to developing cooperation in various areas, including defense and security.

He noted that these incidents have the potential to impact the ongoing development of their cooperative efforts and, if not handled appropriately, could even jeopardize regional peace and stability.

Stressing the Islamic identity shared by both countries, Professor Cheng urged calm and restraint, encouraging them to refrain from further actions that may escalate tensions and to collaboratively uphold regional peace and stability.

Moreover, he proposed that since terrorist organizations often exploit the border areas as hideouts, it would be advantageous for Pakistan and Iran to engage in in-depth discussions and close cooperation on joint anti-terrorism operations and cross-border counter-terrorism efforts. Such collaboration, he argued, could yield substantial results in the shared goal of counter-terrorism for both nations.
