TEHRAN, Iran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Tuesday said that Gaza had brought Israel to its knees while praising the victory of Palestinians in the besieged Palestinian territory.

He was addressing a meeting with Iranian officials and ambassadors of Islamic countries in Tehran on Tuesday, Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported.

Expressing his views on the developments in the Middle East, the Supreme Leader said the Resistance Front has its roots in the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

He urged officials to be vigilant, stressing the need to recognise who Iran is dealing with in negotiations and interactions.

“We must open our eyes to these facts and be careful who we deal with and talk to,” he said.

He cautioned that behind the smiles of the American officials lie their evil nature, enmity, and deep-seated grudges toward Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei said as a small area, Gaza was able to bring the armed-to-the-teeth Israel to its knees.

He termed the Lebanese group Hezbollah as another instance of heroic resilience in the current era, adding that it lost its former leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah but stood against Israeli threats steadfastly.

The initial 42-day ceasefire deal was signed between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas on January 15 after over 15 months of war.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi mocked US President Donald Trump’s plan to relocate Palestinians, adding instead that Israelis should be sent to Greenland to resolve the issue.

“Instead of Palestinians, try to expel Israelis, take them to Greenland, killing two birds with one stone,” he said, in an interview with Sky News that was posted on his official Telegram channel.

“They can resolve the problem of Greenland and the Israelis, it would be a good place for them,” he added.

Trump on Monday stated that Palestinians should be moved from Gaza to “safer” locations such as Egypt or Jordan.

Earlier on Tuesday, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baqaei, had also condemned the idea of moving Palestinians out of Gaza.

“Political coercion and demographic manipulations will not be able to force the Palestinians to migrate,” Baqaei said in a post on X, adding that Gaza is the Palestinians’ “homeland and they’ve paid (an) extremely high price to remain there”.
