BAGHDAD: Iraq strongly condemned Iran’s missile strikes on anti-Tehran groups and an alleged Israeli “spy headquarters” in Erbil, the capital of the semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan.

The Iraqi foreign ministry termed the attacks as an “assault on its sovereignty” and pledged to take legal steps, including filing a complaint with the UN Security Council.

The strikes resulted in casualties, with four people killed and six others wounded, according to Iraq’s Kurdistan security council.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed that the missile strikes targeted a “spy headquarters” and a “gathering of anti-Iranian terrorist groups” in Erbil.

The Iraqi authorities, in response, announced their intention to conduct a thorough investigation and publish the findings to refute the allegations made by those responsible for the attacks.

The foreign ministry emphasized its commitment to transparency and ensuring that the truth is presented to both Iraqi and international public opinion.

The Iranian missile strikes in Iraq are part of escalating tensions in the region, fueled by conflicts involving Iran, Israel, and other groups.

The Iraqi government’s strong condemnation reflects its determination to safeguard its sovereignty and pursue legal avenues to address the situation. As the situation unfolds, Iraq is expected to provide further details of its investigation and take appropriate measures to address the aftermath of the missile strikes.
