JOHOR, Malaysia: Pakistan Women narrowly lost to Ireland Women in their final group match at the ongoing ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup at the Johor Cricket Academy Oval in Malaysia on Wednesday. The Green Shirts fell 13 runs short in a rain-affected match, finishing their group-stage campaign with a defeat.

Pakistan finished fourth in Group B and will now face Samoa in the fourth-place playoff match on Friday, January 24, at the same venue. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 AM PST.

From Group B, Ireland, England, and the United States have all secured qualification for the Super Six stage of the tournament.

Ireland won the toss and opted to bat first, posting a modest score of 69-5 in nine overs. Alice Walsh was the standout performer for Ireland, scoring 31 runs off 19 balls.

Her knock included five boundaries and was instrumental in laying the foundation for Ireland’s total. Walsh was eventually dismissed by Pakistan’s leg-spinner Quartulain in the seventh over.

Along with Walsh, her opening partner contributed 11 runs off 10 balls, hitting two fours. Annabel Squires and Abbi Harrison also chipped in with scores of 13 off 13 balls and 10 off 10 balls, respectively, to help Ireland reach 69.

Pakistan’s bowling attack was led by Memoona Khalid, who took two wickets in her only over, contributing significantly to the team’s efforts.
