DUBLIN: Cricket Ireland has confirmed that its men’s team will embark on their inaugural tour of Pakistan in 2025. Although, the specifics of the tour are yet to be finalized, Cricket Ireland announced their intention to journey to Pakistan next year for a series tentatively scheduled for August/September 2025.
The decision follows discussions between Cricket Ireland Chair Brian MacNeice and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi during the ongoing three-match T20I series in Ireland, which serves as preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup next month.
MacNeice expressed satisfaction with the talks, stating that both parties reached an agreement for Ireland’s historic tour to Pakistan. “We are pleased to have hosted Chairman Naqvi in Dublin, and our discussions were fruitful. His presence here underscores the strong rapport between our boards” MacNeice said.
The dialogue encompassed various aspects, including future fixtures for men’s, women’s, and Wolves-level teams. MacNeice highlighted the significance of the forthcoming men’s tour, especially following the senior women’s tour to Pakistan in 2022.
The current series between Ireland and Pakistan stands tied at one game apiece, with the decisive third match set to take place in Dublin on Tuesday. Reflecting on the series, MacNeice commended the Pakistani squad for their conduct as ambassadors of their nation and expressed anticipation for both the upcoming match and their encounter in the T20 World Cup.
He concluded by expressing gratitude to Chairman Naqvi and the PCB for their continued friendship and support, looking forward to the forthcoming tour with anticipation.
