ISLAMABAD: Former Indian cricketer and left-arm pacer Irfan Pathan is being harshly trolled for his comments on Pakistan fans after his nation suffered a humiliating defeat to Australia in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2024 final on Sunday.
The U19 Aussies outperformed India in the final and won the contest by a comprehensive 79-run margin in Benoni, South Africa.
Irfan Pathan, who is famous for making controversial statements about Pakistan and its passion for cricket, became a laughing stock after the results of his past comments on the neighboring country.
However, the former all-rounder did not take the comments with open hands and lashed out at Pakistan fans for their “unsportsmanlike behaviour” in frustration instead of talking over the loss of India against Australia.
Taking to his X (formerly known as Twitter) handle, he mentioned the negative attitude reflected by social media users towards his poorly displayed mindsets.
Despite their U19 team not making it to the final, keyboard warriors from across the border find pleasure in our youngsters’ defeat. This negative attitude reflects poorly on their nation’s mindset. #padosi

However, again, his remarks backfired on him on social media. Social media users replied that it was Irfan Pathan who was motivating his people and was himself making fun of Pakistan amid a defeat against Australia in the Semi-Final. A social media user, Bilal Ahmad Mushtaq, Replied to him.
Another user, Mudasir Hasan Wani, replied to him, saying that people would humiliate you as you did in the past.
In the past, Irfan Pathan usually tried to humiliate Pakistani fans and players whenever Pakistan suffered a defeat against an opponent. In the last 50-over World Cup, he danced with Rashid Khan when Pakistan lost to Afghanistan.
