IRSA Releases 192,000 Cusecs of Water from Various Rim Stations

ISLAMABAD: The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) announced on Thursday the release of 192,000 cusecs of water from various rim stations, coinciding with an inflow of 200,400 cusecs.

This data, released by IRSA, sheds light on the water levels and flows across key dams and rivers in Pakistan.

At Tarbela Dam, the water level in the River Indus was measured at 1470.57 feet, marking an increase of 72.57 feet above its dead level of 1,398 feet. The dam recorded an inflow of 56,600 cusecs and an outflow of 65,000 cusecs.

Similarly, at Mangla Dam, the water level in River Jhelum stood at 1174.60 feet, surpassing its dead level of 1,050 feet by 124.60 feet. The dam reported an inflow of 56,700 cusecs and an outflow of 40,000 cusecs.

Notable releases of water were recorded at various points along the river system. Kalabagh, Taunsa, Guddu, and Sukkur saw releases of 95,000 cusecs, 101,200 cusecs, 44,300 cusecs, and 13,800 cusecs, respectively. Additionally, from River Kabul, a total of 64,400 cusecs of water were released at Nowshera, while River Chenab saw a release of 8,000 cusecs at Marala.

These figures indicate the management of water resources in the region, with IRSA overseeing the distribution and release of water to meet various needs, including irrigation, hydroelectric power generation, and flood control. The data provided by IRSA offers valuable insights into the status of water levels and flows, crucial for informed decision-making and water resource management in Pakistan.
