ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday accused economic analysts of peddling “baseless” rumours about default and said those predicting default dates should be ashamed of their acts.
Dar openly acknowledged during a press conference in Islamabad that the continuing political unrest has caused the country to experience severe suffering.
Pakistan would never have a default situation, the finance czar assured the people. He said the government had successfully implemented challenging reforms to ensure the country’s financial stability.
After Imran Khan was removed from office, Dar said, they understood that things would not be “easy peasy” for them. He added that Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) had sacrificed its politics for the good of Pakistan.
The finance minister said, “Incumbents will pull the country out of the quagmire soon, as they did in 2013.” He also pledged that the government would provide the business community with any assistance or collaboration needed to boost trade and foreign investment in the country.
