ASTANA: After the conclusion of the SCO-Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Astana, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday departed for Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on a working visit, where he would meet Pakistani students.
He is accompanying Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
In Bishkek, Ishaq Dar would meet with Pakistani nationals, including the students who were under treatment for injuries as a result of the recent violence in Kyrgyzstan.
He will discuss with the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister the concerns of Pakistani students, including matters pertaining to their continued education during their temporary stay in Pakistan, the statement added.
Pakistan has evacuated over 600 students from Kyrgyzstan following last week’s violent clashes in the central Asian country.
Violence in Kyrgyzstan
It is to be mentioned here that videos of a brawl between Kyrgyz and Egyptian students went viral on social media last week, prompting frenzied mobs to target hostels of medical universities and private lodgings of foreign students, including Pakistanis, in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
Several Pakistani students have been injured in the violence, and the government has started special flight operations to evacuate them.
