Ishaq Dar Seeks Roadmap to Curb Cross-border Smuggling

Islamabad: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar stressed upon the relevant authorities to come up with coordination among all the relevant bodies and to devise a robust and proactive roadmap to control the cross-border smuggling of various items for bringing economic and financial stability to the country.

According to a press release, the minister said this while chairing the inter-ministerial meeting on the economic condition of the country here on Friday.

Smuggling of wheat, foreign currency, urea

The meeting highlighted and reviewed the ongoing challenging economic situation and current mechanism of foreign currency, as reports of wheat and urea smuggling.

Accordingly, several measures were discussed in order to strengthen anti-smuggling regime.

Later, the participants thanked the finance minister for taking appropriate steps for tackling the current economic scenario and ensuring their resilience for ensuring smooth and sustainable economic growth.

Azam Nazeer Tarar, Minister for Law and Justice, SAPM. Tariq Bajwa, SAPM Tariq Pasha, Governor SBP, Secretary Finance, Secretary Interior, Chairman FBR, DG FIA, DG I&I Customs and other senior officials also graced the meeting.
