ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad International Airport (IIAP) achieved a remarkable milestone in 2023 by registering its highest-ever passenger flow, with an impressive six million people traversing through its terminals. This noteworthy accomplishment underscores the airport’s significance as a major hub for both domestic and international travel.
According to the spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the substantial passenger traffic was distributed between domestic and international flights. Domestic flights operated approximately 11,000 trips, facilitating around 1.5 million passengers. On the other hand, international flights played a significant role in serving approximately four and a half million individuals.
The airport’s outstanding performance is further highlighted by the substantial number of flight operations. Throughout the year, IIAP witnessed about thirty-one thousand movements, showcasing its day-to-day bustling activity and diverse connectivity.
The surge in passenger volume not only reflects the airport’s pivotal role as a widely utilized aviation gateway but also emphasizes its contribution to facilitating seamless travel experiences for millions of people. As IIAP continues to play a central role in air travel, it solidifies its position as a key player in the region’s aviation landscape.
