New York: Pakistan and Turkey have agreed to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in diverse sectors including trade, defence, investment, and security domains.
This came at a meeting between Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
The two sides also assessed preparations for the upcoming 7th session of Pakistan-Turkey High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council to be held in Islamabad soon. The two leaders discussed regional and international developments, especially the current genocide and the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. The two leaders called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and end of hostilities.
Shehbaz Sharif lauded Ankara’s firm and consistent support for the oppressed people of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
During the talks, President Erdogan also expressed his admiration for PM Shehbaz Sharif’s economic policies, which have played a key role in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy. He lauded the Prime Minister for his leadership and resolve to economic reforms.
