BEIJING:  To make travel between Pakistan and China easier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has started offering cheaper rates to passengers with free luggage allowance on flights between Islamabad and Beijing from August 6.

An official told APP here Friday that the national flag carrier has introduced new, more affordable tickets with free luggage allowances of 50 kg for economy class passengers and 60 kg for executive economy class passengers, respectively.

The lower rate and free luggage allowance, he claimed, would make it much easier for travelers to fly to China for job, school, or other purposes.

Every Sunday, PIA runs a passenger flight from Islamabad to Beijing. Speaking to APP, Ali Imran, a Pakistani academic residing in Hangzhou, China’s Zhejiang province, expressed his appreciation for the offer and claimed that the new fare’s free luggage limit would considerably benefit both Chinese and Pakistani travelers.

He claimed that many Pakistani students would return to their schools after the summer break and that many others would begin their new academic year and be eligible for the new offer. Imran stated that Chinese workers working on CPEC-related projects could also take advantage of this facility.

A Pakistani travel agent named Ghulam Shifa claimed that Pakistan and China were commemorating this year as “The Year of Tourism” to encourage cross-cultural and interpersonal interactions. He believed that making this offer would draw Chinese visitors who wanted to see Pakistan’s scenic, historical, and cultural sites. —APP
