ISLAMABAD: An additional district and sessions court in Islamabad on Tuesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in the Tosha Khana case.

Additional district and session judge, Zafar Iqbal pronounced the verdict after the former PM skipped the hearing, with his lawyer seeking another exemption for the PTI chief’s personal appearance in the case amid security concerns.

Earlier today, the local court resumed proceedings on a complaint filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to launch criminal proceedings against Khan for concealing Toshakhana gifts retained by him in 2018 and 2019 when he was the prime minister, in his statements of assets and liabilities filed for the year 2018-19.

“PTI chief had deliberately concealed material facts”

According to the ECP reference, the PTI chief had deliberately concealed the material facts by not disclosing the details of gifts recieved by him and that Khan also made evasive and ambiguous statement in his written reply that the gifts purchased by him during the financial year 2019-20 were further gifted by him or on his behalf to others.
