ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker Sanam Javed and barred authorities from her arrest in any new case until Thursday.
The PTI activist was arrested again on Sunday an hour after a local court in the federal capital dismissed the case against Sanam Javed as baseless and ordered his release.
The IHC Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzaib heard the Sanam Javed plea against the latest arrest. Sanam Javed, represented by her lawyer Mian Ali Ashfaq, appeared before the court, alongside IG Islamabad.
The court directed the authorities to submit the complete record of Sanam Javed for the past year and delayed her arrest until Thursday.
Justice Aurangzeb also cautioned Sanam Javed that any public statements during this period could result in the court rescinding its order.
The PTI activist, detained in multiple cases related to events on May 9, was presented before the IHC, where she was granted permission to return home. The court has requested comprehensive records of all charges against her over the past year.
However, the IHC has imposed restrictions, preventing Sanam Javed from leaving Islamabad until Thursday.
Earlier in the day, Islamabad police handed Sanam Javed over to Balochistan police in connection with a vandalism case from May 9. She appeared before the G-11 district court, which granted transit remand, transferring her to the custody of Balochistan police.
It is notable that despite securing bail in previous cases on Saturday, the PTI activist faced new charges on May 9, leading to her arrest.
The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Cell took her into custody from a prison in Gujranwala, citing alleged ‘inciting’ remarks made on social media prompting actions against the Jinnah House.
