ISLAMABAD: The Medical Section of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Maroof International Hospital jointly organized a breast cancer awareness session at Islamabad International Airport (IIAP).
This informative cancer and mental health awareness session was held in support for the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed in October every year.
The session saw active participation from female officers and staff members representing various departments at IIAP. It commenced with an address from CAA female doctors, followed by a comprehensive presentation delivered by Dr. Saira Mehmood, an Associate Professor and a specialist in Breast Cancer.
She emphasized the importance of early screening, detection, disease management, and the exploration of risk factors associated with breast cancer.
Renowned psychologist Dr. Zubia Zubair highlighted the social stigmas and psychological challenges faced by both cancer patients and their families. This knowledge-sharing session was followed by an engaging Q&A segment, during which female participants openly discussed their questions and concerns.
In his concluding remarks, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Airport Manager underscored the significance of maintaining a healthy workforce and the pivotal role of the aviation industry in raising awareness about this critical health issue.
As a token of appreciation, CAA souvenirs and shields were presented to the distinguished guest speakers at the conclusion of the event.
