ISLAMABAD: A massive number of around 30,000 young candidates appeared in the test for recruitment against 1,667 vacant posts in the Islamabad police, the capital city police of Pakistan, which exposed the unemployment ratio in the country.

A video of over 30,000 test takers seeking recruitment in the Islamabad police has sparked concerns about high levels of unemployment in Pakistan.

According to the details by the Islamabad police, the recruitment of constables was aimed at filling the 1,667 vacancies that fell vacant during the last five years. There were stringent security arrangements for all the stages of the recruitment process.

IG Islamabad Akbar Nasir Khan lauded police officers for making excellent arrangements for the recruitment process. He also thanked the candidates for showing discipline during their tests. CPO Headquarters, CPO Security, CPO Safe City, CPO Training and Law & Order, and CPO Operations played vital roles in arranging the considerable exercise.

On the other hand, the video shared by the Islamabad police is going viral on social media and raised concern about Pakistan’s high levels of unemployment.

“This is not a cricket or football match, but the unemployed youth of our country who have come to Islamabad to give an interview for the police,” former Chief Minister of Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan said.

“This isn’t a cricket or football match, but jobless youth (in thousands) waiting for the Islamabad Police interview at sports complex Islamabad. A moment of shame for the Pakistani government,” journalist Rahim Nasar said.

“There is a state of unemployment in the country that all these people have gathered to get recruited for some posts of Islamabad Police. The poor condition of the country’s economy under the PDM government can be estimated from this picture,” journalist Iqrar ul Hassan Syed also said.

The main victims of the economic recession in 2022 were agriculture, the textile industry and its allied sectors, automobiles, and import material-based industries. All these led to a fear of significant unemployment in the country. Businessmen termed 2022 the worst-performing year for Pakistan’s economy.
