ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reiterated its call for an unconditional and immediate truce in the Gaza Strip, and for the provision of unhindered humanitarian help to alleviate the suffering of Gazans.

In a statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson stated that Islamabad unequivocally denounces the latest Israeli attempt to dismantle the operations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

The spokesperson said that this latest measure is yet another Israeli violation of global law and the United Nations Charter. Preventing UNRWA from conducting its vital tasks is a manifestation of Israel’s systematic campaign to deny the much-needed humanitarian help to Palestinians.

The spokesperson Office has called upon the world, in particular the UNSC, to hold Israel accountable for its acts and ensure the unimpeded operations of UNRWA.

The world also needs to step in to end Israel’s genocidal campaign against the people of Palestine in the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN Ambassador Munir Akram has stated that the role of UNRWA is irreplaceable in providing lifesaving assistance and support to millions. In a post on X, he stated that any effort to diminish its role will have severe regional and humanitarian consequences.
