ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi approved a 200-acre international standard zoo and safari park project in Islamabad, set to house 5,000 animals and birds.

The first phase will introduce 2,000 animals and birds. The project aims to enhance Islamabad’s recreational infrastructure and promote tourism.

Minister Naqvi directed officials to register the zoo and safari park with the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums and expedite project-related matters.

The foundation stone is expected to be laid in October. The project, reviewed in a meeting chaired by Naqvi at the CDA headquarters, represents a significant step in providing world-class recreational facilities to citizens. Mohammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman CDA, briefed the meeting on the project’s details.
