PM Invites President Putin to Visit Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Islamabad wanted to enhance bilateral ties and cooperation with Moscow in a number of areas particularly in trade, energy, and investment.  The PM expressed these views during a meeting with Ambassador of Russia Albert P. Khorev who called on Shehbaz Sharif, PM Office Media Wing said in a statement on Saturday.

On the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep condolences on the loss of precious lives in the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack outside Moscow last week. The PM said Pakistan stood in solidarity with Russia at this sad hour.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister stressed the need for early convening of the 9th session of the Inter-governmental Commission (IGC), due to be hosted by Russia this year.

The PM urged the Russian side to send a delegation to Pakistan to hold talks with their counterparts to identify means to enhance the existing level of investment and trade relations between the two nations.

While warmly recalling their meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Samarkand in 2022, the PM reiterated his invitation to Russian President Putin to undertake an official trip to Pakistan at his earliest convenience.

The Prime Minister thanked President Putin for the congratulatory message sent to Shehbaz Sharif on his re-election.

The Russian envoy assured PM Shehbaz Sharif that Russia wanted to build stronger relations with Pakistan and said that, in addition to trade, energy, and investment, Moscow was also keen to enhance cooperation in culture and education.
