Islamabad, Washington Vow to Strengthen Security ties, Focus on Counter Terrorism

ISLAMABAD: The United States and Pakistan have agreed hold a joint ‘Law Enforcement Dialogue’ in coming October this year.

According to APP, the two sides agreed during a meeting between US Ambassador Donald Bloom and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The two sides also discussed matters of mutual interests and ways to strengthening bilateral relations.

Pak-US Cooperation

The meeting focused on matters such as enhancing cooperation in combating terrorism, narcotics trafficking and strengthening security.   Pakistan’s Interior Minister emphasized the importance of US support in strengthening Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies.

He highlighted the recent talks in New York to foster collaboration between the the New York Police Department and Islamabad Police.

According to APP, a delegation from Islamabad Police will soon visit New York to explore further opportunities for cooperation including training programs between the two sides. The Interior Minister reiterated the Pakistani government’s resolve to protecting all minorities while emphasizing their equal rights under the Constitution of the country.

Tri-nation Series

The two sides also touched upon the successful hosting of the T20 World Cup in the United States, showcasing America’s emergence as a new center for international cricket.

Naqvi expressed his efforts to organize a tri-nation series between the USA, Pakistan and Canada as well as a cricket league between Canada and the USA.
