BEIJING: China’s foreign ministry said on Thursday that three Chinese nationals had been killed in the recent conflict between Palestinian freedom fighters and Israel.

Wang Wenbin, spokesman for the foreign ministry, told reporters, “To my understanding, it has been confirmed that three Chinese nationals were unfortunately killed in the conflict.”

Furthermore, he said, “Two people are uncontactable, and a number were injured. We express our deepest condolences for the dead and our sincere sympathies for the families of the dead and those who were injured.”

“China’s diplomatic entities overseas are currently undertaking extensive efforts to coordinate the rescue and medical treatment of the injured individuals and organizing arrangements for the deceased,” he added.

“We call on external parties to exert their utmost in locating and rescuing those who have not been reached and to implement all necessary measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and organizations,” Wang stated.

Additionally, Hamas officials report that approximately 1,200 more individuals in the Palestinian coastal enclave have lost their lives due to Israeli air strikes. —APP
