Air strikes reported in Gaza

According to AFP, the Israeli army has carried out airstrikes on the Gaza Strip. AFP added that at least three explosions heard in the area at 11:15 pm.

A Palestinian security source told AFP that the strikes were carried out in the area.  The barrage of rockets came following Israeli police personnel drew widespread condemnation from around the region for clashing Wednesday with Palestinians inside Al-Aqsa mosque.

Israeli police had on Wednesday attacked the prayer hall of Al-Aqsa Mosque in a raid.

The violence, during both the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and the Jewish Passover, sparked an exchange of rockets and air strikes in the Gaza Strip.
