GAZA: Israeli forces have escalated attacks in the Gaza Strip’s largest southern city and a central refugee camp, amid the ongoing conflict with Hamas.

The Hamas-run health ministry reported a staggering death toll of more than 21,000 people in the 11 weeks of the war. Air strikes persist, with an expansion of operations in the south, and hints at potential escalation along the Lebanese border.

The World Health Organization (WHO) raised alarms about the grave peril facing Gaza’s population, emphasizing the urgent need for a ceasefire. French President Emmanuel Macron called for a lasting ceasefire and expressed deep concern over the heavy civilian toll. He pledged to work with Jordan on humanitarian operations in Gaza.

As the conflict unfolds, Gaza’s residents endure severe shortages of food, water, fuel, and medicine due to the ongoing siege. WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus urged the international community to take immediate steps to alleviate the dire situation, jeopardizing humanitarian efforts.

The war has displaced an estimated 1.9 million Gazans, leading to a humanitarian crisis. Pregnant women face challenges, exemplified by Iman al-Masry, who gave birth to quadruplets amid the conflict. The lack of nutritious food and medical resources adds to the hardships faced by displaced families.

The broader regional impact of the conflict is evident, with fears of a regional escalation involving Israel, Hezbollah, and Houthi in Yemen.

Israel’s threats against Hezbollah raise concerns about a wider regional conflict. Additionally, recent attacks in the Golan Heights and the West Bank have added to the complexity of the situation.

The ongoing violence underscores the urgent need for international intervention to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and work towards a sustainable ceasefire.
