GAZA CITY: The death toll in Gaza has risen to 313 as Israeli airstrikes continue to devastate the region, with close to 2,000 people wounded, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Israel has struck 426 targets in Gaza, resulting in the flattening of residential buildings in massive explosions, leaving a significant portion of the territory in ruins.
Among the casualties in Gaza are 20 children, highlighting the devastating impact of the ongoing violence on the civilian population. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) reported that over 20,000 Palestinians have fled Gaza’s border regions to seek refuge further inside the territory, particularly in UN schools.
Israeli Airstrikes Destruction in Gaza
Humanitarian organizations operating in Gaza are facing substantial challenges in delivering aid and medical assistance due to the intensifying conflict. Nebal Farsakh, the spokesperson for the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRC), expressed the difficulties faced by their medical teams, calling on the international humanitarian community to open humanitarian corridors to ensure safe passage for NGOs providing assistance in the Gaza Strip.
Amid the crisis, Israel announced on Saturday night its decision to cut electricity supply to the besieged territory. Gaza, home to approximately two million people, has been enduring an Israeli blockade encompassing air, land, and sea routes. The drastic reduction in electricity supply, from 120 megawatts to a mere 20MW, has significantly impacted daily life in Gaza, affecting vital services and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
