RAMALLAH: Eight innocent Palestinians were brutally killed during Israeli military operations in the occupied West Bank, according to statements from the Palestinian health ministry on Tuesday.

The casualties occurred during a military raid on the northern city of Tulkarem, with seven fatalities reported, while a separate incident near the southern West Bank city Hebron claimed the life of a 20-year-old Palestinian.

Reports indicate that the Israeli army conducted raids in Tulkarem, deploying a significant number of soldiers in an attempt to make arrests. Witnesses described heightened tensions and violence in the area during the military operation. The Israeli army has not provided immediate comments on the incident in Hebron.

Israeli Army Violence Against Palestinians in West Bank

This incident follows closely on the heels of a deadly Israeli operation in the city of Jenin last Thursday, where the Palestinian health ministry reported 14 casualties—the highest death toll in a single raid in the West Bank since at least 2005, as per United Nations records.

The West Bank, occupied by Israel since the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, has been a frequent site of Israeli military raids, causing heightened tensions in the region. Since October 7, Israeli forces have reportedly arrested over 2,000 Palestinian civilians across the West Bank, including annexed east Jerusalem, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club advocacy group. Israeli military figures, however, have cited a higher number of arrests, surpassing 1,400.

The ongoing conflict has taken a toll on both Palestinian and Israeli lives, with at least 180 Palestinians and three Israelis reported killed across the West Bank since October 7.
