Israeli Commander Killed in Gaza Blast

TEL AVIV, Israel: The Israeli military reported the death of Col. Ahsan Daksa, commander of the 401st Brigade, in northern Gaza on Sunday.

Daksa, a prominent member of the Druze community, was killed in the Jabalia area when an explosive detonated as he exited his tank. Israeli forces have been conducting an intense land and air assault in northern Gaza, targeting Hamas.

According to military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, Daksa and other officers were surveying the area when they were struck by the explosive. The blast also lightly wounded a battalion commander and two officers. Daksa had been leading the offensive in Jabalia.

According to media report, this attack marks a significant loss for Israel. His death brings the total number of Israeli military fatalities in Gaza to 358 since the ground offensive began in October 2023.
