GAZA: Israel struck a Hamas base in Gaza on Monday after rocket fire from the enclave; meanwhile, a Palestinian was killed as the army arrested alleged attackers in the occupied West Bank.

Later on Monday, Israeli police said that officers arrested a 14-year-old Palestinian boy who allegedly stabbed an Israeli teenager in Jerusalem’s Old City.

The latest violence comes amid a significant escalation in Israeli-Palestinian unrest, with dozens killed in recent weeks.

The Palestinian health ministry said a young man, Amir Ihab Bustami was killed in a pre-dawn Israeli raid in the northern West Bank in the Nablus area, the scene of repeated skirmishes over the past year.

The army said Israeli forces detained two men, Abdul Kamel Jouri and Osama Taweel, who allegedly shot dead soldier Ido Baruch in October.

The military detained three other suspects after Israel spent months collecting intelligence to find “where the attackers were hiding.”

“Overnight, Israeli forces arrived at the hideout apartment, and an exchange of fire took place between the forces and the wanted suspects,” the army added.

Separately, in Gaza, the army said it raided an underground compound containing raw materials used for manufacturing rockets belonging to Hamas.

The military said the strikes were a retaliation to a rocket fired from the territory towards Israel on Saturday.

An AFP journalist witnessed Palestinians using a digger to collect debris beside a collapsed multi-story building on the seafront of Gaza City.

The military said that after the Israeli strikes, air raid sirens sounded in communities near the Gaza border. Neither side reported any casualty from the cross-border fire incident.

Hamas stated that further strikes would prompt a military response, warning that the group’s rockets would reach “ground targets in Tel Aviv and beyond.”
