Israeli Martyrs 1,348 Palestinians in a Week: OIC Media Report

JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Tuesday launched a media monitoring unit to document all crime committed by the occupation authorities against the Palestinian people.

The unit established in accordance with Article No. (10) of the final Communique adopted during the Joint Arab Islamic Summit in Riyadh on November 11, 2023.

The unit also includes the creation of digital media platforms to expose and publish their illegitimate and inhumane practices.

The first weekly bulletin, issued by the OIC’s General Secretariat, focuses on crimes and massacres committed by Israel, the occupying authority, against the Palestinian people in Gaza, the cities of the West Bank, and the Holy City of Al-Quds.

During the week of January 23 to 29, 2024, a total of (1,348) martyrs were reported, all of whom were killed in the Gaza Strip due to aerial and artillery bombardment in cities such as Gaza, Rafah, and Khan Yunis. Moreover, six martyrs lost their lives in West Bank cities, while the number of wounded individuals in the Gaza Strip and certain West Bank cities reached (2,413).

The report also highlights daily incursions at the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and restrictions imposed on worshippers on January 26, 2024. Occupation forces continued a wave of arrests, totaling (204) arrests primarily in cities like Al-Khalil (Hebron), Ramallah, Jenin, and Qalqilya in the West Bank.

The bulletin highlighted settlers frequently attacked West Bank cities, with the majority occurring in Nablus, Al-Khalil (Hebron), Bethlehem, and Ariha (Jericho), totaling 23 attacks.

According to the Observatory’s statistics, the overall number of Israeli violations against the Palestinian people during the mentioned period reached approximately (4,217). These violations spanned killing, wounding, and arresting Palestinian citizens, attacks on places of worship, property demolition, incursions, closure of crossings, construction of roadblocks and checkpoints, settler attacks, confiscation of Palestinian lands, shootings, and the establishment of settlement outposts.
