Israeli Military Opens Fire at Hospital Wards in Gaza: Health Ministry

GAZA: The health ministry in Gaza said Wednesday that Israeli troops have opened fire at hospital wards, raising fears for the safety of 12 kids in paediatric care.

In a statement health ministry spokesperson Ashraf Al-Qudra said that the occupation Israeli troops have tightened the siege and the attacking of Kamal Adwan hospital, firing at wards and courtyards.

He expressed feared the death of 12 kids in paediatric care who are already deprived of milk and are without life support equipment in the hospital. He said that Israeli troops had attacked the Kamal Adwan hospital in the north of the Palestinian territory.

Earlier, the UN humanitarian agency OCHA stated that two mothers were killed when the maternity department of Kamal Adwan hospital was attacked.

Qudra said today that Israeli troops had arrested hospital director Ahmed Al-Kahlot and other staff who were severely “tortured and deprived of drink and food.” Qudra maintained the Israeli troops were also attacking Al-Awda hospital and tightening the siege of the capability, “depriving it of food, water, and power.” He added that Israeli forces were also “stopping the injured and sick from reaching” the hospital.

Israeli forces have earlier attacked other medical facilities in the Gaza Strip, including Al-Shifa, the area’s largest hospital. There is presently only one hospital in northern Gaza able to accept patients and injured, the UN said.

Earlier, the WHO said just 14 of 36 hospitals across the area are working, providing limited health care while also sheltering thousands of displaced persons.
Over 18,600 Palestinians have been killed and almost 50,600 injured since the war between Hamas and Israel erupted more than two months ago, the health ministry said.
