GAZA CITY: At least 15 people were martyred on Saturday when an Israeli airstrike targeted a United Nations school in Gaza, where thousands of displaced Palestinian civilians had sought shelter amid brutal Israeli strikes. The strike, condemned as a brutal act, occurred at the Al-Fakhura school, leaving a horrifying toll of casualties in its wake.

The Gaza health ministry confirmed the tragic loss of lives, with spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra reporting the grim aftermath at a press conference. “The massacre at the Al-Fakhura school committed by the occupation Israel this morning left 15 martyrs and 70 wounded,” he announced.

Israeli Brutalities Against Palestinians in Gaza

The school, run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), had been providing refuge to Palestinian families displaced by the ongoing conflict. This heart-wrenching incident adds to the distressing toll of civilian lives lost in the region.

There was no immediate comment from Israeli authorities regarding the incident. Similarly, the UN aid agency, UNRWA, which has been actively involved in supporting Palestinian refugees, has yet to issue a statement regarding the devastating attack.

This strike follows Thursday’s announcement by UNRWA that four of its schools in the Gaza Strip, serving as shelters for those displaced by the war, had suffered damage due to bombings.
