IV Samarkand Forum to Address Climate Change and Human Rights Intersection

SAMARKAND, Uzbekistan: The IV Samarkand Forum on Human Rights is set to convene on June 13-14, 2024, marking a significant international gathering aimed at addressing the pressing issues surrounding the intersection of climate change and human rights.

This traditional conference will host three plenary meetings, both offline and online, providing a platform for comprehensive discussions and knowledge exchange.

With the overarching goal of delving into the profound implications of climate change on human rights, the forum seeks to foster information analysis and facilitate dialogue among participants. By bringing together experts from diverse backgrounds, the event aims to formulate tangible recommendations and solutions to alleviate the adverse effects of climate change on human rights.

Organized by the National Human Rights Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan, in collaboration with the “Strategy of Development” center, the forum has garnered support from international partners such as the United Nations team in Uzbekistan.

Notable among these partners are the Office of the Permanent Coordinator of the United Nations, the Regional Office of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia, and the United Nations Development Program in Uzbekistan.

The participation of over 200 experts is anticipated, including national and foreign specialists, climate experts, government officials, representatives of civil society organizations, media professionals, researchers, business leaders, and international organization delegates.

The forum serves as a crucial platform for fostering collaboration, sharing best practices, and developing effective strategies to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals amidst a changing climate.

As the world grapples with the multifaceted challenges posed by climate change, the IV Samarkand Forum on Human Rights emerges as a pivotal initiative to advance the protection of human rights in the face of environmental crises.
