ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) cleared objections raised by the Registrar’s office regarding an intra-court appeal (ICA) that sought improved jail security and amenities for the Chairman of PTI, who has been in prison since early August. The court instructed the Registrar’s office to schedule the case for a hearing.

A two-judge bench, comprising Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir, presided over the proceedings. During the hearing, the petitioner’s attorney, Sher Afzal Marawat Advocate, presented the judgment of a single-member bench dated September 25, which addressed the Chairman of PTI’s transfer to Adiala Jail.

The attorney pointed out that the single-member bench had not issued any directives regarding the provision of facilities for the Chairman of PTI or permissions for meetings with his lawyers and family members. He also mentioned that the jail administration was allowing the Chairman of PTI’s family to visit him twice a week, with only four lawyers permitted to meet him. Consequently, he requested the court to amend the single-member bench’s judgment.

The court issued the instructed amendments.
