ISLAMABAD: YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and ex-UFC fighter Nate Diaz will face off in the boxing ring on August 5 at American Airlines Center in Dallas.

The eight-round fight will be contested at 185 pounds (84kg) using 10-ounce gloves.

The pay-per-view event will be a 50-50 collaboration between Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions and Diaz’s Real Fight Inc.

Diaz has been a part of some of the biggest pay-per-view events in UFC while Paul has made a name for himself in boxing circles despite his minimal experience level.

The highly anticipated bout

Paul and Diaz, currently two of the biggest personalities in combat sports, have exchanged trash talk in interviews and on social media over the past 18 months. Their teams also got into a backstage altercation in October at a boxing event featuring UFC legend Anderson Silva and Paul who challenged Diaz in his postfight interview after defeating Silva.

Having over 20 million YouTube subscribers, Paul has so far competed in seven professional fights since 2019, and suffered his first defeat against Tommy Fury in February.

The 26-year-old has so far had a successful record against former UFC fighters, with two wins over former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, and one over MMA legend Anderson Silva and welterweight contender Ben Askren each.

Diaz, 37, fought in the UFC for 15 years before leaving in 2022.

Being one of the few UFC fighters who have actually sparred with elite boxers, he has proven himself as one of the most skilled boxers in the promotion during his MMA career.
