Jammu Martyrs’ Day Being Observed Today

ISLAMABAD: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world are observing the Jammu Martyrs’ Day today to reaffirm their commitment to fight for their inalienable right to self-determination.

Hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris were killed by the forces of Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian army and Hindutva forces in different parts of Jammu region while they were going to Pakistan in the first week of November in 1947.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leaders and organizations in their statements in Srinagar, paying tribute to the Jammu martyrs, said that their blood would not go in vain. They said that the martyrs of Jammu had sacrificed their lives for a noble cause and their unprecedented services would not be forgotten.

Jammu massacre one of the biggest tragedies

The leaders and organizations said that the genocide of the Muslims of Jammu in 1947 was one of the biggest tragedies in the world.

They said that the best way to pay homage to the martyrs was to continue their struggle till it reached its logical end.

The Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement Farida Behanji in a statement from Srinagar said that the massacre of Jammu on November 6, 1947 was the first incident of ethnic cleansing.

She said that the aim of the brutal massacre of Muslims was to change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir and the Modi’s fascist government is following this nefarious plan to convert the majority of Kashmiri Muslims into a minority.

The Chairman of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Uzair Ahmad Ghazali, in his statement from Muzaffarabad said the brutal rulers of India started this bloody game in 1947 to strengthen their forced rule over Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the people of the occupied territory are struggling for freedom against these heinous ambitions and conspiracies of India.

Meanwhile, pro-freedom organizations displayed posters in Srinagar and other parts of the occupied territory to pay tribute to the victims of Jammu massacre.
