NEW YORK: Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa is set to meet her Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, in New York today, according to the foreign ministry.
During this meeting, Kamikawa is expected to call for enhanced security measures following the recent stabbing of a Japanese schoolboy in China.
The incident, which occurred last week in Shenzhen, resulted in the death of a child attending a Japanese school and marks the second such attack near Japanese educational institutions in recent months.
In response to growing safety concerns, some Japanese companies in China have offered to evacuate their staff and families, highlighting the ongoing strains in relations between the two countries.
