ISLAMABAD: Responding to groundless allegations of gas theft leveled by Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), Jazz, Pakistan’s largest digital operator, has taken legal action by serving a defamation notice seeking Rs 10 billion in damages.

Jazz firmly refutes the unfounded claims of gas theft at a site in Karak (KP) by SNGPL. The telecom company has issued a legal notice, categorically denying any use of natural gas at its network sites throughout the country.

This fact is substantiated by a photograph of the diesel generator shared by SNGPL in its communication on X (formerly Twitter), which contradicts their claims.

Jazz said in its notice, “Accusing Jazz of gas theft at one of its sites lacks credibility and substance. Such allegations against Jazz, a significant contributor to Pakistan’s national economy, lack a factual basis. Furthermore, baseless accusations of this nature can erode investor confidence and adversely affect the country’s economy.”

Jazz emphasizes that its electricity and fuel arrangements are entirely legitimate. As part of its backup power strategy, Jazz has established agreements with third-party suppliers for the exclusive provision of diesel fuel for generators at multiple locations.

Jazz upholds an impeccable reputation and places immense value on the trust vested in it by its stakeholders. The irresponsible conduct by SNGPL in making unsubstantiated allegations has the potential to damage foreign investor confidence and harm national interests.
