LOS ANGELES: Actress Jennifer Connelly, known for her role in “Top Gun: Maverick,” has expressed readiness to reprise her role if approached for a third movie of the iconic film sequel.
In an interview, Connelly conveyed her enthusiasm, stating that she would readily accept the opportunity to join “Top Gun 3” should the filmmakers extend an invitation. “I’ll be there. I’m ready,” remarked Connelly, reflecting on her positive experience during the filming of “Top Gun: Maverick.”
The actor reminisced about the camaraderie and enjoyment she experienced while working on the sequel, underscoring the possibility of her return to the series.
Paramount’s decision to greenlight the third installment of “Top Gun: Maverick” was announced earlier this year. The film, led by Tom Cruise reprising his role as Navy pilot Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, follows the success of its predecessor, which grossed a staggering $1.49 billion worldwide.
“Top Gun: Maverick,” released in 2022, emerged as a box office sensation, earning praise for Cruise’s reprisal of his iconic character and revitalizing the theatrical industry amidst challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The enduring popularity of the franchise prompted Paramount to enlist Ehren Kruger, co-writer of “Top Gun: Maverick,” to develop a script for the highly anticipated sequel.
Cruise’s involvement in the project is significant, given his recent collaboration with Warner Bros. under a non-exclusive deal to develop both franchises and original films.
“Top Gun,” directed by Tony Scott in 1986, propelled Cruise to stardom and became a cultural phenomenon. Its enduring legacy was further highlighted by its nomination for Best Picture at the Oscars.
