ISLAMABAD: All road blockages have been cleared throughout Islamabad on Saturday. However, Metro bus service remains suspended, local media reported.  Earlier, on Friday evening, the protestors agreed to disperse peacefully and move to Liaqat Bagh Rawalpindi, and by Saturday morning, the local administration confirmed that all road blockages in Islamabad had been removed.

The Islamabad Traffic Police said that traffic was back to normal, with vehicles moving freely across major routes like Faizabad, Jinnah Avenue, the Islamabad Expressway and Srinagar Highway.

However, the Metro bus service continues to remain suspended in Islamabad till the filing of this report. Residents asked the government to take the immediate step to restore Metro Bus Service as they suffered a lot due to the closure of the bus service.

JI Protest, Islamabad, Roads,

Earlier, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police blocked various routes in twin cities including from Faizabad to Murree Road on the expressway of Islamabad by placing containers, causing traffic disruptions amid the protest call by the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and PTI.  The district administration had also sealed Islamabad’s D-Chowk by placing heavy containers on the nearby roads and the police had also reportedly arrested several JI activists.  Containers have also been placed on the internal and external routes of Islamabad. In response, the Islamabad Traffic Police have also issued an alternative traffic plan to mitigate the disruptions.
