Joint Session of Parliament Passes Ten Bills

ISLAMABAD: The joint session of the parliament passed as many as ten bills with a majority vote on Tuesday, after rejecting amendments in some bills.  

Some bills were returned by President Dr. Arif Alvi seeking amendments for detailed deliberations and consideration by the parliament and its relevant committees.  

The Parliament’s joint sitting passed the bill to amend the Global Change Impact Studies Centre Act, 2013, The Global Change Impact Studies Centre (Amendment), 2022. It was moved by the federal minister for climate change Senator Sherry Rehman.

Other bills passed by the parliament were Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (Amendment), 2022], Pakistan Nursing Council (Amendment), 2022, The Pakistan Global Institute, 2022, State-Owned Enterprises (Governance and Operations), 2022, Regulation of Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Power (Amendment), 2022.

Other important bills

Other important bills included Islamabad Capital Territory Prohibition of Interest on Private Loans, 2022, the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), 2022, Islamabad Compulsory Vaccination and Protection of Health Workers, 2022, and Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, 2022. –APP
