Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain Leaders Discuss Situation in Gaza

DOHA: Jordanian King Abdullah met separately with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Bahrain’s King Hamad on Wednesday to reaffirm the need for an urgent truce in Gaza.

In his meeting with Qatari emir in Doha, King Abdullah expressed his concern regarding the possible spread of violence in the region, and emphasized that no military solution would adequately address the Palestinian issue. King Abdullah also reaffirmed Jordan’s opposition to any attempt to forcibly displace Palestinian people in Gaza.

The two sides expressed their desire for Palestinians to achieve their legal rights and establish an independent state on the June 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital. The Jordanian King lauded Qatar’s support for the Palestinian people, and its efforts to coordinate with Arab nations and other stakeholders for a truce.

In his talks with Bahraini King, the Jordanian King expressed concern regarding the deterioration of the situation in the Gaza Strip, and emphasized the significance of ensuring unimpeded humanitarian help in the territory.

The King also highlighted the urgent need for a clear solution to the Palestinian issue, advocating for a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

Both sides underscored the significance of civilian protection and urgent establishing humanitarian corridors to facilitate the delivery of aid to Gaza. King Hamad appreciated Jordan for its role in championing Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian issue, and also acknowledged King Abdullah’s efforts toward peace in the region.

Earlier, King Abdullah’s held a meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. They discussed bilateral ties, strategic cooperation, regional and global issues of mutual concern and efforts to address the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The Emirates News Agency reported that they discussed ties between their two nations as well as means to strengthen strategic cooperation, especially in the sectors of investment, economy, food security and industry. The two sides noted that immediate global action was needed to put an end to the war while providing complete protection for civilian population in accordance with global humanitarian law.

They also highlighted the significance of ensuring aid deliveries to Gaza by allowing humanitarian organizations to do their work and establishing safe humanitarian corridors.
