AMMAN: A Jordanian court on Wednesday awarded death sentences to three people over charges of links to the Daesh group and staging two bomb blasts.

A total of 11 people were awarded sentences ranging from five years in prison to death penalties in the same case relating to attacks in 2018 that killed six security officials of Jordan.

The court condemned three people to death, including one in absentia, over accusations of “involvement in terrorist activities using explosives and weapons that led to the death of one person.”

The remaining convicts were awarded sentences ranging from five to 20 years in prison.

Three other people, including two women, were acquitted and released after the court order.
