AMMAN: Jordan on Thursday will host a global conference attended by the major UN bodies and regional and global relief organizations to coordinate humanitarian aid and relief to war-devastated Gaza, local media reported.
UN aid top official Martin Griffiths and key UN bodies and NGOs involved in ramping up aid and relief to the Strip will be present at the international conference, along with representatives of Western and Arab nations involved in the aid and relief effort, they stated.
The international conference will be addressed by Jordan’s King Abdullah who has been pushing Western leaders to support a UN resolution that calls for an immediate truce in Gaza.

The King has accused Israel of carrying out war crimes with a relentless bombardment campaign that has killed more than 15,000 people mostly children and women, according to Gaza health ministry, and a siege of the strip that prevented for weeks the entry of food, fuel and medicine and cut power supplies.
Local authorities say King Abdullah will call on participants to push Israel to end its blockade of the Gaza Strip and permit unimpeded flow of goods by opening more border crossings.

UN officials stated they were already asking Israel to reopen the Kerem Shalom crossing that had been used to transport over 60 percent of truckloads going into the Gaza Strip before the current war.
Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, in an address to the UNSC on Wednesday, asked the world forum to pass a resolution to end to the war in Gaza, adding the UNSC’s “silence was giving Israel a cover for its crimes.” He further said that the only pathway to peace and security was the end of Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land.
