AMMAN: Jordan has warned against intercepting its airspace and the breach of its borders as tension increases in the region, Arab media reported on Saturday.

Jordan has reaffirmed its “rejection of attempts by some regional sides to violate its airspace, particularly by launching drones that some of which have entered the country’s airspace and parts had fallen inside its territory,” stated government spokesperson Mohammad Momani, Petra news agency reported.

Mohammad Momani pointed out that two incidents of this type had occurred in recent times in the governorates of Jerash and Irbid, terming it as “a threat that Jordan was dealing with within the military rules of engagement, and that it was making all necessary steps to confront these violations.”

The official warned of “increasing regional tension, reiterating that its country will not be a conflict zone for any side, and will not permit warplanes, drones or missiles to pass through its airspace.”
