CAIRO: Egypt and Jordan on Thursday strongly condemned the “inhumane” Israeli attack on the people waiting for aid in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The health ministry in Gaza said Thursday that 104 Palestinians were killed and more than 750 injured after Israeli soldiers opened fire on civilians gathered at an aid distribution point in the Palestinian territory. The incident, described as a “massacre” by officials, unfolded in Gaza City, drawing widespread condemnation and calls for accountability.

Egypt’s foreign ministry issued a resolute statement denouncing the Israeli assault on unarmed Palestinian civilians gathered at the Nabulsi roundabout in northern Gaza. The ministry emphasized the reprehensible nature of targeting peaceful citizens as they awaited assistance, labeling it a “shameful crime” and a blatant violation of international law.

Expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people, Egypt reiterated its firm stance against any actions that jeopardize the safety and well-being of civilians in the conflict-ridden region.

Similarly, Jordan’s foreign ministry condemned the “brutal targeting” by Israeli occupation forces of Palestinians assembled to receive aid near Al-Rashid Street in Gaza’s Nabulsi roundabout. The ministry’s statement echoed Egypt’s sentiments, condemning the assault on individuals seeking humanitarian relief.

Reaffirming its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, Jordan reiterated its commitment to standing alongside the Palestinian people in their struggle for justice and dignity.

104 Palestinians Killed in Israeli Fire on Aid Distribution Point

According to Ashraf al-Qudra, spokesman for the Gaza health ministry, the death toll from the attack at the Nabulsi roundabout soared to 104, with hundreds more wounded by gunfire. Many of the critically injured await urgent medical attention in overwhelmed and under-resourced healthcare facilities in northern Gaza.

Raed al-Nims, spokesman for the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, lamented the dire situation, stating that the wounded lack access to necessary treatment amidst the collapse of the healthcare system. Al-Nims highlighted the intentional targeting of PRCS crews by Israeli forces, resulting in the loss of 20 staff members.

Israeli military officials claimed that the attack occurred after Palestinian aid-seekers approached them in a “dangerous” manner. However, Palestinian authorities and eyewitnesses have contested this narrative, asserting that civilians were targeted while waiting for much-needed food aid.
