ISLAMABAD: The 14th death anniversary of renowned journalist and reputed columnist Irshad Ahmed Haqqani is being observed here Wednesday.
Born on September 6, 1928, in Kasur, Irshad Ahmed Haqqani began his association with Jamaat-e-Islami after completing his education, contributing to its journal Tasnim. His professional journey commenced as a Lecturer at Government College Kasur.
In 1981, he joined Daily Jang as a Senior Editor, subsequently penning articles under the title “Harf-e-Tamana.” Notably, he assumed the role of Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting in the 1993 caretaker government.
Irshad Haqqani passed away on this day in 2010 at the age of 81, succumbing to heart disease. He rests in peace at the ancestral graveyard in Kasur. —APP
