MINA, Saudi Arabia:As the final days of Hajj unfolded in Makkah, over 850,000 pilgrims engaged in the pivotal Tawaf Al-Ifadah ritual, marking the transition to Eid Al-Adha. Following a symbolic stoning of the devil in Muzdalifah amidst scorching temperatures, pilgrims embarked on this essential rite, culminating their Hajj journey. This came after the monumental gathering of more than 1.8 million pilgrims at Mount Arafat, underscoring the magnitude of this sacred pilgrimage, a cornerstone of Islamic faith.

In ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims, Col. Talal bin Abdulmohsen Al-Shalhoub, spokesperson of the Saudi Ministry of Interior, highlighted meticulous security measures. Ayedh Al-Ghuwainem, deputy minister of Hajj and Umrah for Hajj affairs, underscored the seamless execution of organizational plans. With over 800,000 pilgrims arriving in Mina before dawn, logistical operations ensured smooth transitions, with pilgrims efficiently accessing the Jamarat Bridge for the stoning ritual. Despite logistical challenges, including the preference for foot travel over transportation options, preplanned schedules and modern technology facilitated a 95 percent compliance rate with instructions, exemplifying the adaptability of organizational strategies.

Amidst the logistical orchestration, safety remained paramount. The 911 center in the Makkah region received over 78,000 calls on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah, promptly addressing security reports and service inquiries. This meticulous oversight, coupled with continuous enhancements in security sectors, exemplified Saudi Arabia’s commitment to ensuring a secure pilgrimage experience.
